Rizwan’s Half-Century Powers Tigers to Victory

Bangladesh U-19 came close to breaking their highest-ever total in youth ODIs, set at 340 runs against Sri Lanka in 2019, but narrowly missed out by just four runs in their latest encounter. Despite not surpassing the record, the young Tigers delivered a commanding performance, thrashing Sri Lanka by 146 runs on their home ground in the fourth match of the six-game series.
Batting first on Saturday (May 3), Bangladesh posted an imposing 336 for 8, powered by a brilliant century from opener Jawad Abrar. Abrar displayed aggressive intent throughout, reaching his hundred with a six and finishing with 113 off 106 balls, hitting 14 fours and 13 sixes. It was his second century of the series, following an unbeaten 130 in the second match. Rizwan Hasan added a valuable 82 off 77 balls in the middle order, while late cameos from Samiun Bashir (23 off 8) and Al Fahad (19 off 5) helped push the total close to the record.
In reply, Sri Lanka crumbled under early pressure, losing both openers for just 6 runs and eventually collapsing to 190 all out in 38.4 overs. Their only resistance came from captain Vimath Dinsara, who scored a half-century. For Bangladesh, pacer Al Fahad claimed 3 wickets for 41 runs, while left-arm spinner Sanjid and skipper Azizul Hakim took two wickets apiece.
With this win, Bangladesh now leads the series 3-1 and needs just one more victory in the remaining two games to clinch the series.
