No More Endless Office Visits: PM Announces Digital Pension Payments for Retired Teachers

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced that retired teachers will no longer need to visit multiple offices or endure lengthy administrative procedures to receive their retirement and welfare benefits.
Speaking at the launch of a new retirement and welfare allowance distribution program for private educational institution employees in Dhaka, the Prime Minister said the government is working to ensure that retired educators receive their financial benefits quickly, transparently, and directly through the banking system.
He acknowledged that many teachers had faced years of difficulties in accessing their retirement funds after completing their careers. According to him, bureaucratic delays and unofficial practices had often forced retirees to spend significant time and effort securing money that was rightfully theirs.
The new system allows eligible teachers to receive their payments directly into their personal bank accounts through an online process, reducing the need for physical visits and paperwork.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of teachers in shaping future generations, saying that educators dedicate their lives to guiding students and should not face unnecessary hardship when claiming their retirement benefits.
He stated that the government had taken steps to address financial challenges affecting teacher welfare and retirement funds, particularly after discovering shortages and administrative problems that had delayed payments to many retirees in recent years.
According to government estimates, more than 70,000 retired teachers and education staff had been waiting for their benefits. Special arrangements were made to facilitate payments and improve the overall system.
The Prime Minister said the administration intends to maintain a transparent and efficient process so that future retirees can receive their funds without delays, middlemen, or additional expenses.
He also encouraged retired educators to continue contributing to society through their experience, knowledge, and guidance, emphasizing that their influence extends far beyond their years in the classroom.
