Pacer Mustafizur Rahman left the field on a stretcher after getting injured in the final match against Sri Lanka yesterday. The injury was not very serious. The best pacer of the Bangladesh team has left the country to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with his new assignment.

Fiz will be seen in the jersey of Chennai Super Kings, the most successful team of the tournament.

Mostafiz confirmed the fact of leaving the country through a post on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday morning. In the caption, he wrote, ‘Excited about my new assignment. I am leaving for Chennai ahead of the 2024 edition of IPL. Keep me in your prayers, so that I can give my best.’

Meanwhile, Chennai has given good news about Mustafiz. A senior team official hinted at Mustafiz’s inclusion in the XI from the start of the season. Basically, Sri Lankan pacer Mathisha Pathirana’s injury may open the forehead for Mustafiz.

About Mostafiz, the official said, “Mostafiz’s varied bowling (slower and cutter) can be very effective on the Chennai pitch.” He will join the camp on March 20. We get him ahead of the opening match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He knows what he has to do. We will also see how he does.

Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening match on March 22. CSK is going to be Mustafiz’s fifth IPL team. Earlier, the 28-year-old pacer played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals.

Mostafiz was left out of the playing XI for the first two matches of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka that ended on Monday. He took 2 wickets with 39 runs in 9 overs after getting a place in the eleven in the third match. He could not complete the last over of his spell due to cramps and left the field. But at the end of the match, Mustafiz said he is fine.
