At the ongoing four-day Bangladesh Investment Summit, innovators showcased advanced underwater rescue robots designed to aid in locating lost objects underwater. Named “Octopus” and “Tuna,” these robots can be remotely controlled to navigate depths unreachable by human divers, offering faster and more efficient recovery in water-related accidents—a recurring issue in the riverine country of Bangladesh.
The exhibition also featured the country’s first locally developed electric palanquin-car hybrid, equipped with smart features. Entrepreneurs believe that with sufficient investment, these innovations could gain international recognition.
Investors attending the summit expressed interest but emphasized the need for further development. They noted that such technologies could help reduce dependence on foreign products and should receive increased domestic support.
Young innovators behind these technologies are hopeful the summit will open doors to the funding needed to expand and refine their startups. They are optimistic that with adequate backing, they can showcase Bangladesh’s technological potential on the global stage.
The Bangladesh Investment Summit began on April 7 at the InterContinental Hotel in Dhaka and will continue through April 10.
