A major garment manufacturer operating in Bangladesh’s Adamjee Export Processing Zone (EPZ) has emerged as one of South Asia’s largest producers of men’s formalwear, exporting nearly $98 million worth of apparel annually to international markets.
The company, Universal Menswear Limited, produces approximately five million pieces of men’s clothing every year, including tailored suits, blazers, formal trousers, waistcoats, and jackets for globally recognized fashion brands and retailers.
A Manufacturing Giant Behind Global Brands
Established through a joint investment partnership between Romanian and Bangladeshi investors, the factory has invested nearly $46 million in its operations and has built a reputation as a key supplier to leading international fashion labels.
Industry officials say the facility shipped close to $98 million in apparel exports during the 2025–26 fiscal year, reinforcing Bangladesh’s position as one of the world’s top garment-exporting nations.
The sprawling production complex spans more than half a million square feet, housing modern cutting, sewing, finishing, pressing, and packaging units.
More Than 8,000 Jobs Created
The factory currently employs over 8,000 workers, the overwhelming majority of whom are Bangladeshi nationals.
Production floors operate at a large scale, with teams handling every stage of garment manufacturing—from fabric cutting and stitching to final quality checks and export packaging.
Company executives say monthly production capacity now exceeds 500,000 pieces, allowing the facility to meet growing international demand.
Supplying Some of Fashion’s Biggest Names
Garments manufactured at the facility are exported mainly to European markets and supplied to internationally known retailers and brands, including:
- H&M
- Zara
- Marks & Spencer
- Primark
- ASOS
- Jack & Jones
- Ben Sherman
- Moss Bros
- Hager Clothing
- Peerless Clothing International
According to company officials, some premium suits produced at the factory retail overseas for the equivalent of tens of thousands of Bangladeshi taka, with certain luxury products reaching significantly higher price points.
Workers Advancing Through Education
Beyond manufacturing, the company says it supports employee development through educational opportunities and career advancement programs.
Several workers have reportedly completed university studies while remaining employed, later moving into higher-skilled positions within the organization.
Green Manufacturing Push
The facility has also received international recognition for environmentally conscious operations, earning a LEED Gold certification for sustainable manufacturing standards.
Solar power systems are installed on-site, while factory management credits Adamjee EPZ’s uninterrupted utility services and infrastructure support for helping maintain productivity and competitiveness.
Bangladesh’s Export Engine Keeps Growing
Officials at Adamjee EPZ say factories operating within the zone generated more than $1.1 billion in exports during the last fiscal year. With additional manufacturing facilities under construction, annual export earnings are expected to rise substantially in the coming years.
As global brands continue diversifying supply chains, Bangladesh’s apparel sector remains a critical player in international fashion manufacturing—driven by large-scale factories like Universal Menswear that quietly power wardrobes around the world.
