BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas has stated that while the “Devil Hunt Operation” is ongoing, the real devils are not hiding in forests and jungles but within government offices. He claimed that pro-Awami League elements still occupy key positions in government institutions and are misleading the administration.

In response to criticism of BNP’s demand for elections, Mirza Abbas said, “BNP has been fighting for people’s voting rights for the past one and a half decades. Our activists have sacrificed their lives and shed blood. This is not a new demand.”

Criticizing the idea of holding local government elections, he remarked, “Our movement was for parliamentary elections, but some now want local elections. They don’t realize that the Awami fascists hiding in their burrows will resurface through the loopholes of local elections. This is an ominous conspiracy.”

However, referring to the meeting between the BNP Secretary General and the Chief Adviser yesterday, where the goal of holding national elections by December was welcomed, Mirza Abbas urged caution, saying, “We must remain vigilant so that no conspiracy disrupts this election.”

On Tuesday, February 11, Mirza Abbas made these remarks as the chief guest at a seminar titled “Tarique Rahman’s 31-Point Reform Agenda and Public Engagement,” organized by the Mugda Thana BNP of Dhaka Metropolitan South. The event was held near the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur. Dhaka Metropolitan BNP Convener Rafiqul Alam Majnu presided over the session, while Metropolitan BNP Member Secretary Tanvir Ahmed Robin moderated it.

The 31-point reform agenda was presented and analyzed by Afroza Abbas, President of the BNP-affiliated Nationalist Women’s Party, along with Engr. Ishraq Hossain, a member of BNP’s International Affairs Committee, and Habibur Rashid Habib, a member of the BNP Executive Committee.

Other notable attendees included city BNP leaders Shamsul Huda, Yunus Mridha, Joint Conveners Harun-ur-Rashid Harun, Liton Mahmud, Haji Monir Hossain Chairman, K. Sikandar Kader, Saidur Rahman Mintu, and Bir Mukti Joddha Golam Hossain. Farhad Hossain and several other leaders from BNP and its affiliated organizations were also present.

Speaking at the event, Rafiqul Alam Majnu emphasized the need for a united effort to build the nation based on the 31-point reform agenda, ensuring that fascist forces can never rise again.

Meanwhile, Engr. Ishraq Hossain asserted, “The trial of fascist Hasina and her accomplices must be carried out at any cost to eradicate their politics of oppression.”
