Indian Envoy Says Tarique–Modi Meeting Could Ease Bilateral Challenges

India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, said on Sunday that direct talks between the leaders of Bangladesh and India could play a significant role in addressing various issues between the two neighboring countries.
Speaking to journalists, Trivedi expressed optimism that a meeting between Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would help improve mutual understanding and contribute to resolving outstanding concerns through dialogue.
The Indian envoy also acknowledged the strong demand for Indian visas among Bangladeshi citizens. He said India is considering expanding its visa processing infrastructure in Bangladesh to better accommodate the growing number of applicants and improve access to consular services.
Highlighting the people-to-people relationship between the two countries, Trivedi praised the warmth and hospitality of Bangladeshi citizens. He noted that ties between the peoples of Bangladesh and India remain strong and emphasized the importance of maintaining that positive relationship at the governmental level as well.
His remarks come amid ongoing efforts by both countries to strengthen cooperation and engagement across a range of areas, including trade, travel, and regional connectivity.
