BNP Standing Committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain departed for London on Friday morning to receive medical treatment.

He left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 7 a.m. aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, accompanied by his wife Bilquis Akhter Hossain and younger son, Barrister Khandaker Maruf Hossain, according to BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan.

Sayrul said the senior BNP politician will undergo treatment in London following the recommendation of doctors in Bangladesh. On behalf of Mosharraf’s family, he requested prayers from the public, party leaders, and activists for his quick recovery.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday night, Mosharraf met BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at her residence, “Firoza,” in Gulshan.

Mosharraf previously underwent brain surgery on 27 January 2024 at Singapore’s National University Hospital. The operation followed a stroke he suffered on 17 June 2023 during an anti-government march in Dhaka.

Initially treated at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka for eight days, he was later transferred to Singapore on 27 June, where doctors diagnosed a brain tumour. He remained there for over two months before returning home on 5 September.

His health deteriorated again on 5 December 2024, prompting another hospital admission in Dhaka. As his condition failed to improve, medical specialists advised further treatment abroad, leading to his current trip to London.
