In an effort to improve law and order, the Ministry of Home Affairs has launched “Operation Devil Hunt” nationwide. As part of this, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in the capital to enhance security and public safety.
Since Monday night (March 3), BGB has set up checkpoints at key locations across Dhaka. Alongside this specialized force, additional police personnel have been deployed to create a security blanket over the city. On-site reports indicate that law enforcement officers are patrolling major roads and residential areas to prevent any acts of sabotage. High-density residential zones are also under foot patrol surveillance.
Expressing their commitment to maintaining security in the capital, just as they do along the borders, BGB’s Dhaka Sector Commander, Colonel Md. Nazrul Islam, told the media, “We are conducting searches on suspicious individuals and vehicles. We believe our operations will contribute to improving the law and order situation in our designated areas.”
Police officers are also working in coordination with BGB. Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Md. Tarek Zubair emphasized their firm stance against potential threats, stating, “By working together with other security forces, we aim to bring law and order to a stable level. We hope to control incidents like robbery, theft, and snatching effectively.”
Authorities have assured that law enforcement efforts will be further intensified to safeguard the public. They remain optimistic that a collective approach will lead to a swift improvement in Dhaka’s security situation.
