17 Forest Workers Abducted in Teknaf Hills

Seventeen forest workers were reportedly abducted by unknown assailants from the hills in Jadimura, a region west of Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, on Monday morning (December 30).
The incident was confirmed by Sheikh Ehsan Uddin, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Teknaf.
The abducted individuals have been identified as Ayub Khan (18), Ayub Ali (50), Ansar Ullah (18), Ayat Ullah (22), Samsu (45), Islam (21), Samsu (40), Ismail (35), Mohammad Hashim (40), Noor Mohammad (21), Syed Amin (30), Safi Ullah (30), Ayub (50), Mahata Amin (18), Saiful Islam (22), Syed (50), and Rafiq (33).
Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Gias Uddin stated, “We are making every effort to rescue the abducted forest workers. Police and other law enforcement personnel have already reached the site, and operations are underway to address the situation.”
UNO Sheikh Ehsan Uddin further mentioned that the forest workers were engaged in tasks under the Forest Department when they were reportedly taken by unknown individuals. Law enforcement agencies are actively working to ensure their safe recovery.
