Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has called for students’ support in maintaining law and order across the country. Speaking at the annual general meeting of the Bangladesh Retired Police Officers Welfare Association at the Rajarbagh Police Auditorium on Saturday, December 28, he emphasized that the police have no magic solution to end theft, robbery, or murder. “We are trying our best, but we need the cooperation of students and everyone else to collectively resist these crimes,” he stated.

The IGP mentioned ongoing efforts to reorganize the police force to prevent a recurrence of incidents like those of July-August. He assured that threats against protest coordinators are being taken seriously, though no significant findings have emerged yet. Regarding the Secretariat fire incident, Baharul Alam informed that an investigation is underway, and the designated committee will provide detailed updates.
