Just one day after pushing prices to an all-time peak, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced another increase in gold prices. From tomorrow, gold will sell at Tk 222,082 per bhori, marking the highest rate ever recorded in the country.

The new price represents a rise of Tk 3,966, or 1.8 percent, from the previous rate of Tk 218,116 per bhori announced on December 21, which had already surpassed the earlier record of Tk 217,381.

The decision comes as global gold prices surged past $4,400 per ounce for the first time, fueled by expectations of interest rate cuts in the United States and strong demand for safe-haven assets. According to Reuters, silver prices also climbed to a historic high during the rally.

In the international market, spot gold jumped 2 percent to reach $4,426.66 per ounce as of 13:13 GMT. Meanwhile, US gold futures for February delivery rose 1.5 percent to $4,451.60 per ounce.
