BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury stated that individuals who may have previously voted for the Awami League but did not obstruct or persecute BNP activists will be allowed to join the party if they wish. Speaking on Saturday, May 17, during a divisional-level membership distribution and renewal event held in front of the party office at Kazir Dewri, Chattogram, he emphasized that known associates of the Awami League, as well as individuals involved in extortion or corruption, should be excluded from the membership process. At the same event, BNP Joint Secretary General Shahidul Islam Annie added that those aspiring to compete in the future must align with BNP, a party with significant experience, and that no conspiracy would be able to hinder the party’s progress. The program also marked the beginning of the membership renewal drive, with Amir Khasru renewing his membership as the first participant. The campaign is set to continue throughout the month.
