Today, Friday, marks the 10th death anniversary of Arafat Rahman Koko, the youngest son of BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman. He passed away on January 24, 2015, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, due to a heart attack.
To commemorate the occasion, BNP has organized a prayer and milad event at 11:00 AM at the party’s central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka, where Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas will be present. Earlier, at 10:00 AM, senior party leaders visited Banani Cemetery for Quran recitation and to pay respects at Koko’s grave. Additionally, a prayer gathering will be held after Asr prayers at BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, where Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will join virtually from London.
Born in Dhaka in 1969, Arafat Rahman Koko was a member of the advisory council of the cricket board and also served as the chairman of the Old DOHS Club. He is survived by his wife, Sharmila Rahman, and two daughters, Zafia and Zahia Rahman.
