Samia Wins BABISAS Award, Dedicates Dance to Shabnur

Lux star and Dhallywood actress Samia Athoi has won the Best Actress award for Mobaroknama at the Bangladesh Entertainment Journalists Association (BABISAS) Awards 2023-2024. At the event, she dedicated a dance performance to senior actress Shabnur.

 

The grand award ceremony took place last Saturday at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC). During the event, Samia Athoi performed a dance as a tribute to Shabnur.

 

Expressing her reaction to receiving the award, Samia stated, “This award is very significant for an actor. An actor doesn’t just perform; they also have social responsibilities. Through dramas and films, we have the responsibility to contribute to social change.” She also shared her admiration for Shabnur, saying that she danced on stage out of love for the veteran actress.

The BABISAS 2023-2024 Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to film personality Anwara Begum, Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Ujjal, and singer Ferdous Ara. Special honors were awarded to film personalities Rozina, Rubel, and Tasik Ahmed.

 

Other winners in various categories included Nirab Hossain, Joy Chowdhury, Siam Ahmed, Shiba Sanu, Rashed Mamun Apu, Khaled Hossain Chowdhury, Md. Fahad, Golam Kibria Tanvir, Romana Islam Mukti, Shabnam Bubly, Shabnam Parveen, Arpana Rani Rajbangshi, and Bobby Haque, among others.

 

In recognition of their contributions to music, artists Monir Khan, Robi Chowdhury, Ethun Babu, Baby Nazneen, Dolly Shayontoni, and Toshiba Begum were also honored.

 

Notably, Samia Athoi completed her undergraduate degree in English in 2018. She dreams of advancing further in the acting industry while also planning to pursue a postgraduate degree. She previously appeared in Damal, directed by Raihan Rafi.
