Investors Lose Tk 11,000 Crore in Five Days

The stock market continues to face a steep decline, with investors losing Tk 11,000 crore in market capitalization over five trading days this week. During this period, the DSEX index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) dropped by 91 points, while the overall index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) fell by more than 60 points.
On Thursday, the trading day started on a positive note, with the DSEX index gaining 13 points in the first 10 minutes. However, the trend reversed, and the index ended the day down by 19.06 points, settling at 5,105. Over the week, the index has lost 91 points.
Despite the decline in the index, trading activity on the DSE saw a slight increase, with a total turnover of Tk 351.59 crore, which is Tk 47.36 crore higher than the previous day. Among 394 companies and mutual funds traded, 105 gained in price, 198 declined, and 91 remained unchanged.
Orion Infusion, Saiham Cotton, and Lovello topped the list of most-traded companies. In terms of percentage gains, Associated Oxygen led the way with a price increase of Tk 1.30, followed by Orion Infusion and Aamra Technologies.
Meanwhile, the CSE saw its overall index drop by 60.44 points, with a turnover of Tk 4.27 crore in traded shares.
