A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of a luxury apartment in Gulshan-1 registered under Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of ousted autocrat Sheikh Hasina. The order came on Tuesday (April 29) following a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Confirming the development, ACC’s public relations officer Akterul Islam stated that Senior Metropolitan Special Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order after hearing a petition by ACC Deputy Director Md. Monirul Islam, who sought the attachment of the property and appointment of a receiver.

According to the ACC petition, an ongoing inquiry is investigating allegations of illegal wealth accumulation against Saima Wazed. Investigators reportedly discovered this immovable property during the probe and requested the court’s intervention to prevent its sale or transfer. This action follows a prior court order on March 5, which froze Tk 48.35 crore held in 14 bank accounts linked to her organization, Shuchona Foundation. In total, the court has ordered the freezing of over Tk 1,065 crore across various accounts associated with Saima Wazed and other members of Sheikh Hasina’s family.
