Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar Arrives in Dhaka to Pay Final Respects to Khaleda Zia
To honor BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Dhaka today. He reached the city at 11:30 a.m. on a special flight operated by the Indian Air Force. Upon arrival at Bashar Hangar of the Bangladesh Air Force, he was welcomed by M. Farhad Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Inter-Governmental and Consular Affairs).
Khaleda Zia’s funeral prayers will be held at 2:00 p.m., spanning the inner and outer grounds of the National Parliament and along the entirety of Manik Mia Avenue. After the prayers, she will be laid to rest beside her late husband and former President Ziaur Rahman.
Khaleda Zia passed away yesterday, Tuesday, at 6:00 a.m. at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. She was 79 years old.
Jaishankar is scheduled to depart for New Delhi later this afternoon.
