BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today expressed hope that the interim government would uphold the impartiality expected by the people, emphasizing that BNP supports its success for the sake of democracy. Speaking virtually at the biannual council of Cumilla city BNP, he noted that recent instability in parts of the country had raised concerns about the government’s actions. While BNP has backed the interim administration, he stressed that certain statements from within the government were causing unrest across various sectors, including the economy and administration. Tarique reiterated BNP’s commitment to democracy, urging that political differences be resolved through dialogue rather than division, as division would harm democratic institutions and the people. He reaffirmed BNP’s stance on free and fair elections, emphasizing that as a party that believes in democracy and the people’s right to vote, BNP naturally advocates for elections and voter participation. Other BNP leaders, including Vice Chairman Barkatullah Bulu and Cumilla city BNP Convener Utbatul Bari Abu, also addressed the council.
