Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan has officially signed on for a new film set to release during Eid-ul-Fitr in 2026. While the title is yet to be finalized, the film will be directed by renowned filmmaker Abu Hayat Mahmud, known for his extensive work across over 250 dramas, OTT content, TVCs, and docu-films. This new project marks his foray into a large-scale action feature starring the Dhallywood icon.
On the night of July 2, Shakib Khan finalized his agreement for the film at a five-star hotel in Dhaka. The production is being spearheaded by Shirin Sultana under the banner of Creative Land. The story and screenplay are penned by Mezbah Uddin Sumon, who is also collaborating with writer Mohammad Nazim Uddin on the script.
Director Abu Hayat Mahmud remained tight-lipped about the project’s plot, stating only that it will be a high-energy action film designed for a “larger-than-life” experience on the big screen. When asked about the lead actress or supporting cast, he mentioned that casting is still in progress and official announcements will follow once everything is confirmed.
Although not officially confirmed, sources suggest the film’s working title is Once Upon a Time in Dhaka, with Shakib Khan expected to play a character named “Kala Jahangir.” Veteran actors such as Tariq Anam Khan, Dilara Zaman, and Shahiduzzaman Selim are also rumored to be involved, though the female lead remains undecided.
