Indian Rice Heading to Bangladesh

The first shipment of rice under the interim government’s tenure is set to arrive in Bangladesh from India. According to Senior Information Officer and Public Relations Officer Imdad Islam of the Ministry of Food, the shipment comprises 24,690 tons of parboiled rice. It is expected to dock at Chattogram Port aboard the vessel MV Tanais Dream early Thursday morning, December 26, at 5:30 AM.
Imdad Islam confirmed that the rice is being imported under an open tender agreement, specifically Contract No. 381, signed on November 11. Upon the ship’s arrival, samples of the rice will be collected for physical testing, and unloading will commence promptly, with all necessary preparations already in place.
