National Moon Sighting Committee Scheduled to Meet Tomorrow

The National Moon Sighting Committee is set to meet tomorrow, Thursday, to review sightings of the Shawwal moon and determine the date of Eid al-Fitr, the largest religious festival for Muslims.

According to a press release from the Islamic Foundation on Wednesday, the meeting will be held at 6:00 PM in the conference hall of the Islamic Foundation, located at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

The press release also stated that the meeting will be chaired by Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaykobad.

The Islamic Foundation has requested that if the Shawwal moon is sighted anywhere in Bangladesh, people report it by calling 02-41053294, 02-226640510, or 02-223383397. Additionally, local officials, including district commissioners or upazila executive officers (UNOs), have also been asked to report any sightings.
