Md. Abdul Halim, a familiar and respected figure in Majidpur Union of Titas Upazila, has recently found himself at the center of online controversy. Known not only as a successful businessman but also as a passionate social worker and education advocate, Halim has served his community for years without seeking personal gain.

Though he operates multiple business ventures at home and abroad, his deeper impact lies in his silent contributions to local schools, mosques, madrasas, religious events, hospitals, and distressed individuals. His dedication has earned him a reputation as a selfless community leader.

Halim served two consecutive terms—eight years—as the president of the managing committee of Majidpur High School. During his tenure, he spent approximately BDT 4 million of his own money on school infrastructure, staff salaries, and improving education standards. Both the school and local residents regard him as a guardian-like figure.

In 2024, when community members proposed Halim for a third term as committee president, former local Awami League MP Engineer Abdus Sabur publicly acknowledged,

“Abdul Halim is an honest, socially active, and education-focused man—beloved by all.”

However, he added,

“The only issue is—he is affiliated with BNP. So he cannot be appointed as president.”

This comment revealed the political roadblock Halim faced, sparking widespread concern over the sidelining of competent individuals based on political identity alone.

“I Stand by My Party in Tough Times”

Addressing the situation, Halim said,

“My livelihood comes from business. But my politics is rooted in love. During BNP’s hard times, I stood by the party and contributed what I could—not for posts or power, but from a sense of duty toward the nation and the party.”

He also responded to a viral Facebook image showing him offering flowers to former MP Selima Ahmed Mery:

At that time, I was school committee president and had been officially invited to a government event. Presenting flowers was a matter of courtesy and done with everyone’s consent. It’s very upsetting that this gesture is now being misrepresented to question my political loyalty.

Many locals argue that if grassroots political parties like BNP overlook sincere and service-oriented individuals like Halim, they risk weakening their organizational strength.

He supports the party not just with money, but with love, time, and moral commitment,” one community member remarked.

Failing to honor such individuals, they argue, would be both unjust and harmful to the party’s future.

Md. Abdul Halim is a rare political figure who never exploited politics for personal benefit—instead, he embraced it with love. That love earned him a place in people’s hearts. If such a man goes unrecognized, it could create a lasting void in the political and social framework of Titas—one that will not be easy to fill.
