Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, convener of Inquilab Mancha, who was shot by assailants, remains hospitalized with his condition unchanged. However, both of his previously non-functional kidneys have now resumed normal activity. His lung function also remains stable.

These details were shared today, Sunday, during a press briefing outside Evercare Hospital in Dhaka by Dr. Abdul Ahad of Dhaka Medical College, who was part of the surgical team treating Hadi.

Hadi, a potential independent candidate for the 13th national parliamentary elections, continues to receive treatment at Evercare Hospital.

Dr. Ahad stated that a medical board convened on Sunday afternoon to review Hadi’s condition, following a repeat CT scan. The board confirmed the recovery of his kidney function.

“The brain injury is very severe, and his overall condition is still critical. Life support is maintaining the function of other organs,” Dr. Ahad said, urging the public to pray for Hadi’s recovery.

He explained the nature of the injury: “The bullet entered from the right side of the head and exited from the left. Part of the bullet’s shell was removed during surgery, but a small fragment still remains near sensitive brain vessels. If necessary, doctors may attempt to remove it.”

Hadi remains under intensive monitoring. His family is exploring treatment options abroad, though any transfer would require approval from the medical board and the family’s consent.

Hadi was shot last Friday at 2:24 pm in the Box Culvert area of Old Paltan, Dhaka. He was fired upon from a battery-operated rickshaw by an assailant who had been following him on a motorcycle.
