Prime Minister Tarique Rahman Set for Turkey Visit to Attend COP31 Climate Summit

Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to travel to Turkey in November 2026 to participate in the COP31 United Nations Climate Change Conference, signaling Bangladesh’s continued engagement in global climate diplomacy. The announcement was made by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir during a meeting with Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Musa Kulaklikaya on the sidelines of the 23rd OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. According to Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides discussed a range of regional and international issues and expressed a strong commitment to strengthening cooperation on matters of mutual interest. Both countries welcomed the progress made in bilateral relations and emphasized the need to expand collaboration in trade, investment, diplomacy, climate action and other strategic sectors. During the talks, Humayun Kabir formally informed the Turkish side that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman would visit Turkey to attend COP31, one of the world’s most important climate conferences. The planned visit is expected to provide an opportunity for high-level discussions on climate resilience, sustainable development and deeper Bangladesh–Turkey cooperation at a time when both countries are seeking to broaden economic and diplomatic ties.
