The Bangladesh High Commission in London has assured the public that its official website is secure, while clarifying that it has no direct control over visa-related servers, which are centrally managed and maintained by the relevant authorities in Bangladesh.
In a press release issued on Saturday, October 24, the mission rejected information circulating on social media about its operations, describing the claims as “misleading and baseless.”
The High Commission warned that such misinformation could damage the mission’s reputation and create confusion among Bangladeshis living in the United Kingdom.
According to the statement, the mission’s official web portal is fully secure, and there is no reasonable basis for questioning its security or functionality.
The release explained that visa-related servers and associated technical systems are centrally operated and maintained by the relevant authorities in Bangladesh. Consequently, the London mission has no direct control over or involvement in their operation, maintenance or technical management.
The High Commission therefore said it should not be held responsible for technical or operational problems arising from the visa servers.
The mission added that it makes every effort to provide visa and other consular services as quickly as possible when applicants submit all required documents and accurate information.
Protecting the interests and welfare of Bangladeshis living in the United Kingdom and providing them with essential consular and other services remain key priorities, the statement said.
The High Commission also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strong ties with the Bangladeshi diaspora, supporting their legitimate rights and interests, and promoting Bangladesh’s image abroad.
It said it would continue carrying out these responsibilities with the same commitment in the future.
The mission urged anyone with questions, complaints or concerns about its activities not to rely solely on information circulating on social media. Instead, people were advised to verify claims through the High Commission’s official communication channels or contact the mission directly.
The statement concluded by emphasising the importance of greater public awareness, responsible conduct and mutual cooperation in countering misinformation and ensuring an accurate understanding of the mission’s work.
