The two rivals faced off on Friday, February 14, at the Estadio Nacional Brigido Iriarte, with both teams knowing a win would secure the championship.
The match was a tightly contested affair, with both sides attempting to break through each other’s defenses through relentless attacks. However, neither team could find a way past the opposing backlines for much of the match.
In the 40th minute, Claudio Echeverri put Argentina ahead with a successful penalty, giving the Albiceleste a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. The second half saw continued offensive efforts from both teams, and in the 78th minute, Ryan equalized for Brazil after receiving a pass from Igor Sirot.
