Dr. Yunus to Receive UK’s Prestigious Harmony Award

Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, is scheduled to visit the United Kingdom from June 10 to 13, during which he will receive the prestigious King Charles Harmony Award 2025. This was confirmed by Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddiqui during a press briefing held on Wednesday, June 4.
He emphasized that the UK is Bangladesh’s second-largest trade partner and a key political ally. This marks Dr. Yunus’s first visit to a European country since taking office, and it is seen as a significant step to further enhance his already positive global image. During the visit, Dr. Yunus is expected to meet King Charles III and hold a bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The tour will also include discussions aimed at expanding trade opportunities, especially in light of post-Brexit dynamics. The Foreign Secretary noted that the visit is important for securing GSP (Generalized System of Preferences) benefits, and there will be talks on trade concessions, education, and broader areas of cooperation.
