Students of Government Titumir College once again blocked the Mohakhali-Gulshan road today, setting up barricades in front of the college gate around 12:20 PM to press their demand for the institution’s upgrade to university status. Protesters placed bamboo poles on the road and used handheld microphones to announce that no vehicles, except emergency ones, would be allowed through until their demands were addressed.

Although the students had initially planned to begin the blockade at 11:00 AM, it was delayed due to Saraswati Puja celebrations on campus, according to Mainuddin, a master’s student from the Economics department. He further stated that the blockade would continue until their demands were met, and they plan to extend the protest to the Mohakhali intersection once more students join.

In addition to the road blockade, around 10 students have been on a hunger strike for five consecutive days in front of the college gate. Three of them have already been hospitalized, while others continue the strike with saline support. The students previously announced that the Mohakhali-Gulshan road and railway lines in Mohakhali would remain blocked from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM today.
