Pori Moni appears after court summons

Actress Pori Moni appeared in court today, Monday morning, to surrender in connection with an attempted murder case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmood. On Sunday, the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court framed charges against her and issued an arrest warrant.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted its investigation report on April 18 last year, alleging assault and death threats by Pori Moni and Zunaid. Taking the report into account, the court summoned the two accused.
The case, filed on July 18, 2022, by Nasir Uddin Mahmood, alleged that Pori Moni and her associates frequently consumed alcohol at upscale clubs without paying, using her police contacts to intimidate others with false cases. The complaint stated that on June 9, 2021, after midnight, Pori Moni and her group entered Savar Boat Club, consumed alcohol, and behaved inappropriately. Nasir claimed that as he and his associate were leaving at 1:15 AM, Pori Moni called him over, requested to sit with them, and made inappropriate gestures to attract him. She allegedly demanded a complimentary bottle of Blue Label whiskey, and when he refused, she verbally abused him and threw a glass and a mobile phone at him, causing injuries.
The case also accused Pori Moni and her associates of threatening to kill Nasir, assaulting him, and vandalizing the club. Later, Pori Moni filed a counter-case with Savar police, accusing Nasir of attempted rape and murder to suppress the allegations.
