A charity concert titled “Echoes of Revolution” was organized under the platform “Spirits of July” to support the families of those killed and injured in the student and public movements of July-August. The event’s highlight was legendary South Asian singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who performed in Dhaka without any fees.
On Saturday, December 21, around 10 PM, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan took the stage at Dhaka’s Army Stadium, where he was warmly welcomed by the audience. Opening his performance in Bengali, he greeted the crowd with, “Assalamu Alaikum, Bangladesh, I love you.”
After exchanging greetings with the audience, Rahat began his performance with “Tu Na Jaane Aas Paas Hai Khuda” and continued with several of his iconic songs. The stadium was packed with fans mesmerized by his magical voice.
In addition to Rahat, the concert featured performances by popular local bands such as Artcell, Chirkutt, Aftermath, and Silsila. Rap artists Shezan and Hannan also performed, adding to the event’s vibrant atmosphere.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, a globally renowned artist, is the son of Ustad Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan and the nephew of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Born into a family of legendary qawwali singers, Rahat began singing devotional Sufi music at an early age before transitioning to Bollywood. His first Bengali song, “Tomari Naam Lekha,” penned by Bangladeshi lyricist Robiul Awal, earned him significant praise in Bangladesh.
