Actress Nusrat Faria has been taken to court following her arrest at Dhaka airport while attempting to travel to Thailand. On Sunday, May 18, she was interrogated at the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) office. According to Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Faria is accused in an attempted murder case filed with Vatara Police Station, linked to events during the 2024 anti-discrimination movement. Immigration police detained her at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport before she could board a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight. Authorities later confirmed her questioning was completed, and she was presented before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court (CMM) in Dhaka on Monday, May 19. The case, filed by Enamul Haque, alleges that Faria and 16 other showbiz figures opposed the anti-discrimination protests and supported the then ruling Awami League and its 283 members, reportedly acting as financial backers of the regime.
