Pedestrian Killed in Bus Accident in Mirpur; Wife Seeks Body Without Autopsy

 

A 50-year-old man, Kamal Ahmed, was killed in a road accident in the Mirpur area of Dhaka on the night of December 24.

The accident occurred around 10:20 PM near the Hakkanir Mor intersection, in front of the Bangla College bus shelter under Mirpur Model Police Station. According to reports, Kamal Ahmed was walking home to South Paikpara from Mirpur-1 when a speeding bus (Dhaka Metro-Ba-13-0974) hit him from behind while he was crossing the road.

Locals and the bus driver rushed him to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

After being informed, the victim’s wife, Raneya Khatun, along with family members, went to the hospital and identified the body. She has submitted an application to the police requesting that her husband’s body be handed over without an autopsy so that funeral rites can be completed promptly.

Police said the incident has been recorded as a road accident, and legal procedures are currently underway.
