The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating former President Abdul Hamid over allegations of misuse of authority and other irregularities.
According to the ACC, the inquiry focuses on claims that he abused presidential powers for personal comfort and caused nearly Tk 24 crore in state losses through a beautification project in the Nikunja-1 residential area. He is also accused of accumulating wealth beyond known sources.
ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain shared this information at a press briefing on Sunday at the commission’s Segunbagicha headquarters in Dhaka.
Sources within the ACC say the complaints allege that Abdul Hamid used government authority for personal luxury and approved expenditures under the guise of a beautification initiative that resulted in financial damage to the state.
