BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi stated that the announcement of the election date would reflect the people’s aspirations. Following necessary reforms, he urged the interim government to ensure elections are held within a reasonable timeframe. Speaking to journalists after visiting the venue for the first day of BNP’s 36-day program centered on the July uprising, Rizvi criticized the current interim administration, saying the nation must be freed from ongoing social and economic crises as well as lawless incidents. He emphasized that unlike past authoritarian regimes, future elected representatives must remain accountable for every action. Rizvi also highlighted the worsening economic situation, urging the interim government to prioritize economic recovery, warning that a lack of investment would be unfortunate. He reaffirmed BNP’s commitment to standing by the families of those injured or killed during the July-August uprising and vowed to continue working toward restoring democracy in the country.
