Residents of the capital Dhaka have fallen into the trap of a long holiday centered around Eid-ul-Fitr. People have already left the capital and returned home to share the joy of Eid with their loved ones. This brick-and-stone city is empty during the long Eid holiday.

On Wednesday morning, the day before Eid, the number of vehicles on the streets of the capital was very low. There are not so many people. However, the movement of people has been seen in the shopping mall, market area.

There is no busyness in the busy areas of Dhaka including Motijheel, Moghbazar, Mirpur Road, Dhanmondi. The footover bridges are almost empty. It takes much less time to go anywhere as there are fewer cars and no traffic jams. However, at this time, the fares of rickshaws, CNG-powered auto-rickshaws have increased a lot.

The bus terminal at Mohakhali is not crowded. There are no passengers. Drivers are waiting to get passengers in empty Dhaka.

Meanwhile, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has created a flawless security plan to prevent criminal gangs from becoming active in the empty Dhaka. Eidgah grounds, markets, markets, banks and ATM booths are gaining prominence in the table prepared by the operations department of DMP. Besides, a separate security table has been prepared by the intelligence department.

As part of the security plan, the bodies and other belongings of the suspects will be searched by law enforcement officers. Arrangements have been made to prevent beggars or hawkers from entering the Eidgah premises and surrounding areas. In case of emergency, it is directed to contact the police control room or the sub-control room set up inside the High Court. Officers in charge will brief about duties and responsibilities before force is deployed. Security will be beefed up in commercial and gold shops from Eid day. Security of banks and ATM booths will be strengthened.
