Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman is set to feature in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), having secured a potential opportunity with the Melbourne Renegades, following in the footsteps of fellow Bangladesh cricketer Rishad Hossain.
Mustafizur has applied to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for a no-objection certificate (NOC) to participate in the Australian franchise tournament. If the board grants approval, the left-arm fast bowler is expected to play for Melbourne Renegades throughout the upcoming season.
With the BCB likely to issue the NOC, Mustafizur is expected to miss the Twenty20 edition of the board’s newly introduced domestic competition, the Domestic Three (D3) tournament.
Rishad Hossain is also set to return to the Big Bash League, representing the Hobart Hurricanes as he did in the previous edition.
The two Bangladesh players are expected to be the country’s representatives in the upcoming BBL season. As a result, neither Mustafizur nor Rishad is expected to feature in the T20 format of the D3 tournament, which is scheduled to begin on December 15.
Mustafizur’s participation remains subject to receiving the necessary clearance from the BCB.
