BNP Chairperson’s Special Assistant and Chief Coordinator of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, Advocate Shimul Biswas, has called on everyone to remain vigilant so that the extraordinary victory achieved through the student-public movement and BNP activists’ struggle is not lost.

Speaking as the chief guest at a workers’ meeting organized by the Sramik Dal of wards 6, 7, and 92 under Rupnagar Police Station at Eastern Housing, Pallabi, Dhaka, on Monday (December 23), Shimul Biswas made these remarks.

He stated, “On August 5, with the fleeing of autocratic fascist Sheikh Hasina, the bloodied streets and countless sacrifices by students, the public, and BNP activists led to an unprecedented victory. This bold example of sacrifice has become a historical milestone.”

Shimul Biswas emphasized, “The people’s victory will only be meaningful when the democratic aspirations of the citizens of Bangladesh are fulfilled, and smiles return to their faces.”

Referring to the sacrifices made during the movement, he said, “The unified student-public uprising in July and August marked the fall of the Awami fascist regime after independence. The bloodshed and lives lost during this movement have been recognized as acts of genocide in history.”

He further added, “The majority of those who sacrificed their lives and blood in the fight for democratic rights were BNP leaders and activists. Their sacrifices will never go in vain.”

In his keynote speech, BNP Dhaka North Convenor Aminul Haque stated, “For 17 years, the people of Bangladesh have been fighting to restore their voting rights and democracy. The public is eagerly awaiting a free and fair election to exercise their right to vote.”

Addressing the interim government, he said, “For the past 15 years, the people of Bangladesh have been denied their right to vote. An immediate, free, fair, and impartial election must be held to establish a government that represents the people’s will.”

The meeting, presided over by Rupnagar Thana Sramik Dal Convenor Nurul Amin and moderated by Member Secretary Shamsul Alam Mintu, was also addressed by BNP Dhaka North Joint Convenors Ferdousi Ahmed Misty, ABMA Razzak, Mahbub Alam Montu, Metropolitan Member Sajjad Hossain, Dhaka North Sramik Dal Convenor Kazi Shah Alam Raja, Member Secretary Kamrul Zaman, Joint Convenor Lion Farid Ahmed, Dhaka North Women’s Wing Joint Convenor Laily Begum, Pallabi Thana BNP Acting Convenor Kamal Hussain Khan, Joint Convenor Mukleshur Rahman Abir, Rupnagar Thana BNP Senior Joint Convenor Engineer Mojibul Haque, Oliul Hasan Tuhin Master, Pallabi Thana Jubo Dal Convenor Haji Nur Salam, and Dhaka North Chhatra Dal Senior Joint General Secretary Moniruzzaman Monir, among others.
