For the second time, the container ship MV Yuan Jiang Fa Zhong has arrived at Bangladesh’s Chattogram Port from Karachi, Pakistan, carrying a significant load of refined sugar and dolomite. The ship docked at the port on Saturday (December 21) at 5 p.m. This time, it brought 688 TEUs of containers, compared to 370 TEUs on its first voyage.
Among the cargo, refined sugar accounted for the largest share, with approximately 7,500 tons packed in 148,200 bags across 285 containers. Additionally, 171 containers carried dolomite, a raw material for the glass industry, followed by 138 containers of soda ash, another essential input for glass production. Other imported goods included fabric rolls for export-oriented garment factories (46 containers), potatoes (18 containers), and molasses brought by P&P Trading of Joypurhat (20 containers). Various other items, such as scrap metal, resin, and three-piece clothing sets, were also imported.
Besides Pakistan, food items, dates, lubricant oil, and machinery parts were shipped from the UAE, including 10 containers of sugar.
