Supreme Court Orders Cancellation of 50 Judges’ Training in India

The Ministry of Law in Bangladesh had granted permission for 50 judicial officers from subordinate courts to participate in training at the National Judicial Academy in Bhopal, India, and a State Judicial Academy. However, this decision was later canceled following directives from the Bangladesh Supreme Court.
In a notice issued on Sunday (January 5) by Dr. Abul Hasanat, Deputy Secretary of the Law and Justice Division, it was stated that the permission, originally scheduled for training from February 10 to 20, had been revoked based on the Supreme Court’s advice.
Earlier, on January 4, the Ministry had issued a circular allowing the officers—including Assistant Judges, Senior Assistant Judges, Joint District and Sessions Judges, Additional District and Sessions Judges, and District Judges—to attend the program. The training expenses were to be borne by the Indian government. However, the Supreme Court’s intervention led to the cancellation of the earlier decision.
