One Arrested in Murder Case Over Clash at Ijtema Ground

A murder case has been filed against 29 named individuals and several hundred unidentified persons over clashes and casualties between followers of Maulana Zubair and Maulana Saad at the Bishwa Ijtema ground on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi. SM Alam Hossain, a follower of Maulana Zubair, filed the case at Tongi West Police Station under Gazipur Metropolitan Police on Thursday evening (December 19).
One person has already been arrested in connection with the case. The arrestee, Mufti Muaz Bin Noor, son of late Noor Mohammad of Uttara, Dhaka, is reportedly a follower of Maulana Saad. He was apprehended on Friday (December 20) at 1 a.m. from Uttara based on secret information.
The complainant, SM Alam Hossain, is from Gaital village in Sadar Upazila, Kishoreganj district, and the son of late SM Moktar Hossain.

Inspector Eskandar Habibur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Tongi West Police Station, confirmed the arrest of Mufti Muaz Bin Noor and stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other accused.
