Brazilian football star Vinícius Júnior, currently playing for Real Madrid, is reportedly planning to purchase a second-division football club in Portugal. According to Spanish outlet Cadena Cope, as cited by ESPN, Vinícius, who is presently competing in the Spanish Super Cup in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, aims to expand his business ventures post-retirement.

Portuguese media outlet Record revealed that while negotiations are ongoing, Vinícius has proposed an offer of $10.25 million (approximately 122.55 crore Bangladeshi Taka) for the club.

Portugal’s second division consists of 18 teams, including reserve squads for giants Benfica and Porto. Notably, Portimonense, a club in the league, is already owned by Brazilian entrepreneur Rodiney Sampaio.

Vinícius is not the first active footballer to explore club ownership. His Real Madrid teammate Kylian Mbappé became the majority shareholder of French second-division club Caen last year, while French star N’Golo Kanté recently acquired Belgian third-division side Royal Excelsior Virton.

The Brazilian forward, under contract with Nike until 2028, recently signed a renewed deal, making him a prominent face of the sportswear giant. In addition to his sponsorship deals, Vinícius is represented by Roc Nation and maintains connections with elite athletes across the NBA and NFL.
