India’s Flag Not Raised at Champions Trophy in Pakistan

The Champions Trophy is set to begin at Pakistan’s Gaddafi Stadium, with the host nation busy preparing the stadium’s decor and facilities. However, just before the tournament kicks off, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has found itself in a new controversy. Typically, the host country displays the flags of all participating nations, but the Indian flag is noticeably absent from the stadium. Videos and images circulating on social media show that while flags of other participating countries are flying atop the media building at Gaddafi Stadium, India’s flag is missing.
India has already decided not to travel to Pakistan, citing security concerns. Additionally, Indian captain Rohit Sharma will not be attending the designated “Captains’ Day” ahead of the tournament. It is speculated that Pakistan may have decided to exclude the Indian flag in retaliation. This has sparked discussions on social media, with Indian media outlets such as Hindustan Times reporting that the flags of Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, England, and Pakistan are present, but India’s flag is absent.
Despite the controversy, Pakistan has completed its preparations for the tournament, and official activities have commenced. The event will kick off with the Pakistan-New Zealand match on the 19th.
