The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided not to renew the contract of Head of Program, David Moore. Moore, who was appointed on the recommendation of Chandika Hathurusingha, will see his contract expire on December 31. BCB’s current president, Faruk Ahmed, has shown no interest in extending Moore’s tenure for a second term.
Moore has played a significant role in the High Performance (HP) program and the national team’s coaching appointments, as well as in introducing technology into the national team’s setup. He was part of Hathurusingha’s long-term plan, and the two had previously worked together in New South Wales. Before Hathurusingha rejoined the national team as head coach, Moore’s position was secured at the BCB. Moore also played a role in promoting David Hemp from the HP team to the national squad, although Hemp was recently removed from his position as the national batting coach.
With the appointment of Mohammad Salahuddin as the senior assistant coach of the national team, Hemp’s services were no longer needed in the senior setup. However, Hemp has not been dismissed and is expected to be reappointed as the head coach of the HP team, a role he previously held. Known for his excellent work with age-group players, particularly in batting, Hemp has over 15,000 first-class runs and is highly regarded for his coaching skills. BCB president Faruk Ahmed has agreed to retain Hemp in the new role.
