Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur has expressed optimism that the country’s inflation will fall below 5 percent by May next year. Speaking virtually from Dubai during a press conference held at Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday (May 14), he said he expects inflation to drop into the 8 percent range as early as next month based on current data trends. The governor noted that this would align with the government’s inflation target set in the national budget. He also addressed concerns regarding dependency on IMF funding, stating that while reforms will continue, the country is capable of managing its economy even without IMF disbursements, emphasizing a forward-looking approach.
