BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has criticized the interim government, stating that while any political party is welcome, it is unacceptable for parties to form under the privileges of being in power. He urged immediate measures to address these concerns, warning that public trust in the government could erode if left unaddressed. Speaking at an event on student politics and membership renewal organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan Chhatra Dal at the Krishibid Institute auditorium, he emphasized the people’s desire for a return to a democratic environment, which remains unfulfilled even after seven months.

Mirza Fakhrul highlighted public doubts about the interim government’s sincerity in holding elections, fueled by recent comments from a local government advisor suggesting that individuals with fascist affiliations could seek forgiveness and participate in elections. Fakhrul argued this reveals the government’s intention to serve its interests rather than ensuring a fair election process.

He reiterated his earlier stance that if the interim government fails to maintain neutrality, a truly neutral administration will be necessary. Fakhrul warned against attempts to replicate the controversial 1/11 political scenario, emphasizing that such actions would be rejected by the people, who will not tolerate a move toward one-party or fascist rule.
