Acting BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has called for building a harmonious Bangladesh by identifying all citizens as Bangladeshis, not by their religious identity. Speaking online as the chief guest at a workshop on BNP’s 31-point reform proposal for the Rangpur, Nilphamari, and Saidpur organizational districts on Wednesday evening (April 23), he stated that the nation had been divided for the past 15 years under an authoritarian regime that used various tags to maintain power. He emphasized that national unity is essential for progress and that a country cannot advance if its people are divided.
Rahman said the implementation of the BNP’s 31-point reform agenda would be a response to the years of persecution and injustice suffered under the ruling party. Highlighting personal and political grievances, including the repression faced by him, his mother, and the assassination of his brother, he asserted that realizing these reforms would serve as justice for those wrongs. He also stressed the need to uphold public trust in BNP, urging party members to remain committed and unify the people for nation-building.
The event at Rangpur Shilpakala Academy was chaired by Metropolitan BNP convenor Shamsuzzaman Samu and featured introductory remarks by BNP publicity secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku. Key training sessions were conducted by BNP Media Cell chief Dr. Mowdud Hossain Alomgir Pavel and Dhaka University professor Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun. Other notable speakers included BNP organizing secretary Asadul Habib Dulu, education secretary Prof. Morshed Hasan Khan, international affairs secretary Barrister Rumeen Farhana, and leaders from various BNP district units.
