The humanitarian program began on Saturday morning at the grounds of Bipin Roy Government Primary School, following a prayer session marking 40 days since the passing of Suchona Akhter Rokea. Around 200 people received winter garments during the event.

The program’s chief guest was Al Baru Mustakim Nibir, Chairman of the Suchona Memorial Foundation and head of the Crime Investigation Cell at Daily Manabkantha.

Also present were Chief Advisor Ashraf Uddin Shipon, Vice Chairman Muktadir Abir, advisors Motaleb Titu and Arifur Panna, as well as journalists and media professionals including Mostafizur Rahman Mostak, Nargis Jui of BTV, Gazi Faisal Tonu of Amader Shomoy, and others. Members of the Old Dhaka Journalists’ Forum and several political activists who supported the July Movement also attended.

The foundation was established by senior journalist Al Baru Mustakim Nibir in memory of his late wife, Suchona Akhter Rokea. Their young son, Muhammad, also joined the guests in handing out winter supplies.

During the event, the foundation announced that beginning next month, a permanent office will offer daily healthcare services and essential medicines to mothers and children.

Through these efforts, the Suchona Memorial Foundation aims to honor the memory of Suchona Akhter by standing beside the community with meaningful humanitarian support.
