Indian comedian and television host Kapil Sharma’s café in Canada was the target of an unexpected armed attack, with assailants firing around 10 rounds at the property. The incident occurred on the morning of July 10, just days after Kapil inaugurated the café on July 4. The attack has since sparked viral videos across social media, drawing widespread concern.

In a statement, Kapil condemned the violence, expressing sadness that a place meant to bring joy and connection had been targeted by hatred. He emphasized that they would not back down and hoped for swift police action.

Responsibility for the attack was claimed by Harjeet Singh Laddi, a member of the banned Canada-based Khalistani group Babbar Khalsa International. The group accused Kapil of mocking traditional Nihang Sikh attire and customs in his comedy, describing the assault as a warning.

The café, known as “Kap’s Café,” is managed by Kapil’s wife, Ginni Sharma. At the time of the shooting, both staff and guests were present inside, though no injuries have been reported so far.
