Two military officers, including former BGB Lieutenant Colonel Redowanul Islam, were taken to the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today in connection with a case involving the killing of 28 people in Dhaka’s Rampura area during the July uprising.
There are four accused in total.
Redowanul and former BGB Major Md Rafat Bin Alam were scheduled to appear before the tribunal today. At around 9:45am, both officers were transported from the Dhaka Cantonment sub-jail in a green air-conditioned prison van labeled “Bangladesh Jail–Prison Van,” under heavy security.
The two other suspects — former Khilgaon Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Rashedul Islam and former Rampura police officer-in-charge Md Moshior Rahman — are still on the run.
Redowanul and Rafat, who had previously been held in military custody, were first produced before the tribunal on October 22. ICT-1 later officially recorded their arrests in the case and ordered their transfer to jail custody.
